Obtaining civil status documents from abroad
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH)
- If a Bosnian-Herzegovinian citizen residing in Hungary wishes to obtain a BiH civil registration document, the client must apply for this at the Embassy of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Budapest.
- If a Hungarian citizen residing in Hungary wishes to obtain a BiH civil registration document (e.g. a marriage certificate), the client must notify the Embassy of Hungary in Sarajevo, where the staff of our Consular Office will arrange for the document to be obtained through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of BiH. In this case, the procedure is free of charge.
