Applying for a temporary private passport
If a Hungarian citizen loses their private passport or travel document in Bosnia and Herzegovina, or if these are stolen, it is possible to apply for the issuance of a temporary private passport at the Consular Office in Sarajevo, which will allow them to travel home or onward.
The issuance of a temporary private passport is possible at a previously agreed time, so please be sure to contact our colleagues by phone.
In the case of lost/stolen documents, the first step is to file a report with the local police, and then appear at the Consular Office with the police report, where our colleagues will also issue a report about the incident – in Hungarian.
The document is issued after a photograph and a signature sample are taken, and the client can receive the completed document immediately.
It greatly helps the administration if the client has a photo of the lost/stolen Hungarian documents and/or the personal identification number found on the residence card (LIG card)!
